This Ozymandian Life - Recorded: 10/22/11

I have been a member of Ozymandian Theater since 2005.  We are a sketch comedy and improv company that performs 5-6 times a year here in Cheyenne, Wyoming. All of the sketch comedy that we use is original.  As far as we know we are the only group in the great state of Wyoming doing something like this.

Our sketch shows typically look something like this:

or this:

However, on October 22nd 2011 we did something a little different.  A couple of our members are HUGE "This American Life" listeners and they thought it would be a challenge to try and pull off a completely improvised version of the program in front of an audience.  Five minutes before the show started we got the topic "I'm going to give you a knuckle sandwich" from the crowd and crafted a 60 minute radio show around it.

As in "This American Life" our show bounced between serious and funny.  We covered such topics as High School bullying, interpersonal conflicts, and sibling rivalries.  Rest assured that there were some laughs to be had, but we were successful in keeping a good balance.

Ozymandian Theater got some much needed help from The Cheyenne East High Improv Club.  They did a great job in supporting us!

Here is a breakdown of the show:

Rick Simineo served as the host/Ira Glass impersonator.

Segment 1 "The Secret Door" - Sarah Yosten

Segment 2 "Tough Times at Crawford High" - Mark Horan

Segment 3 "Road Trip Gone Bad" - Karla Dieters

Segment 4 "Million Dollar Johnny" - John Roedel

The show ended up clocking in right around 55 minutes.  When you have some time I urge you to take a listen:
